Crash! Boom! Bang!

Notes

Per: Well, for a start everybody said that you can’t have a title like that on a ballad like this. Marie: I just wished I’d written the lyrics myself. This is the moment I wait for in our concerts. I love when the strings come sweeping in… Per: …Clarence at his best… a bit of Burt Bacharach there, isn’t it? Always something to strive for. Yeah, this one is one of my favorites too. The title’s from Elvis’ “Jailhouse Rock”, by the way.

– Don’t Bore Us – Get to the Chorus! liner notes, 1995

Hard to believe that Elvis Presley’s 1957 rave-up “Jailhouse Rock” inspired this sweet and slow ballad. Well, the lyrics did at least… “the whole rhythm section going crash! boom! bang!”, remember? A massive radio hit in Europe and South America, but the group’s honeymoon with the USA is strained when the American record company release Favorites from Crash! Boom! Bang!, a shorter version of the album sold only at McDonald’s restaurants in USA. It was fried.

Per: This demo was recorded at the Tits & Ass Studio in May 1993! I knew immediately it had the muscles to become a big one with Marie singing it! Such a beautiful melody-line, very dramatic and also a great title (which btw comes from Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” –“The drummer boy from Illinois went Crash Boom Bang”–. Marie sounds SOOOO good on this. So convincing you trust every word she sings. A big big talent that makes brilliant singers stand out from the rest! And Clarence’s string arrangement is superb! I’m lucky to work with ppl of that calibre!

Roxette – Original Version 5:02

My Papa told me to stay out of trouble
“When you’ve found your man, make sure he’s for real!”

I’ve learned that nothing really lasts forever
I sleep with the scars I wear that won’t heal
They won’t heal

Cos every time I seem to fall in love
Crash! Boom! Bang!
I find the heart but then I hit the wall
Crash! Boom! Bang!
That’s the call, that’s the game
And the pain stays the same

I’m walking down this empty road to nowhere
I pass by the houses and blocks I once knew

My Mama told me not to mess with sorrow
But I always did, and Lord, I still do
I’m still breaking the rules

I kick it up
I kick it down

Cos every time I seem to fall in love
Crash! Boom! Bang!
I find the heart but then I hit the wall
Crash! Boom! Bang!
That’s my real middle-name
It has always been the same
That’s the call, that’s the game
And the pain stays the same.

I still feel the heat
Slowly fallin’ from the sky
And the taste of the kissing
Shattered by rain
Comin’ tumblin’ from behind
And the wild holy war

I kick it up
I kick it down

Cos every time I seem to fall in love
Crash! Boom! Bang!
I find the roses dying on the floor
Crash! Boom! Bang!
That’s the call, that’s the game
And the pain stays the same
That’s my real middle-name
It has always been the same

Oh Yeah Oh Yeah Oh Yeah Uh-huh
Been the same, been the same
It has always been the same

Roxette – ¡Crash! ¡Boom! ¡Bang! [Original Version] 4:26

Mi propio padre qua me conocía
No se equivocó
Dudaba da mi

Mi madre siempre todo lo sabía
No doy más da no, no doy más de si
Soy así

Cada vez que me enamoro yo…
¡Crash! ¡Boom! ¡Bang!
Siento algo como vértigo
¡Crash! ¡Boom! ¡Bang!
Soy un tren un misil
Voy a cien, voy a mil

Mi corazón me ha superdemostrado
Que pierdo el control en la intimidad
Que soy capaz de
Dar mi amor privado
A aquel que me da sus ganas de amar
Me dejo llevar

Cada vez qua me enamoro yo..
¡Crash! ¡Boom! ¡Bang!
Siento algo como vértigo…
¡Crash! ¡Boom! ¡Bang!
Yo no sé ni quién soy
Nada pido, todo doy
Soy así, natural
Vaya bien o fatal

Me dejo llevar
Por la piel
Por instinto
Puedo morir
Por amor, sin solución

Cada vez qua me enamoro yo…
¡Crash! ¡Boom! ¡Bang!

Oh, yeah… Oh, yeah…
Soy así: ¡Crash! ¡Boom! ¡Bang!
